The images in the Außenseiter Series are inspired by the lockdown in 2020 and 2021. The blurred portraits and bodies in the series cite the process of gradual isolation.

Vibrating blurs visualize the mental change caused by the isolation. Deformed faces symbolize the fading memory of people in our lives and bright colors suggest the representation of a thermal imaging camera - as if the artist wanted to remember what human warmth and closeness feel like.

The appearance of the works is as far removed from the medium of photography as the lockdown has demanded of people and their social lives. Harmonious gradients disintegrate into shrieking color contrasts, familiar forms shift into unnatural symmetries, and humanity is lost in a cosmos of the completely unknown.
